When should we expect vacations/school closures?

JPS is closed for all Jewish and legal holidays, as well as teacher workdays.
The Jewish holidays fall out differently each calendar year. Parents should expect school to be closed for the High Holidays (September/October), all of Passover (April), and Shavuot (May/June).
We close for winter break, which is typically 6-7 days, 3 of which are open to full-time families only.
Teacher workweek takes place in August, so expect a 5 day closure the week before school starts each year. See our current school year calendar here.

What is the Annual Fund?

The Annual Fund is a yearly campaign during which JPS strives to reach 100% parent participation as well as a specific monetary goal. School tuition covers teacher salaries without leaving room for much else. Building costs, materials, Judaic items, etc., are financed by donations. Click here to donate

Session 2 / Full Summer – tuition will be divided into two payments, May and June.
Year Round:

Does JPS run year-round?

Yes! JPS runs year round. Mid-August through May is considered the ‘school year’ and June through the beginning of the school year is called ‘summer’. See all options here. (Families do not need to register for the full year; if all you are looking for is the school year, you can register for the school year only.)

What is the difference between the school year and the summer?

Our school year offers an academic experience for all preschoolers. Our teachers prepare lesson plans in accordance with the school curriculum, complete developmental assessments for each child and offer an annual parent-teacher conference. Judaica takes place daily and is incorporated into our classroom. Students are introduced to their new teacher and classroom in the beginning of the school year and will remain with the same class until the end of the school year in May.

During the summer program we focus less on academics and curriculum while still offering the same quality of care and excellent environment, with the added fun of summertime! The children have plenty of time for both indoor play and outdoor water play. We bring in specials such as soccer, art, story time, gym and more. Judaica takes place three times a week.

Do I need to pay any fees or deposits when enrolling my child?

Yes. In order for your application to be considered complete, you must pay a $150 registration fee (50% sibling discount) as well as a tuition deposit at the time of registration. Your tuition deposit will be applied towards May of the coming school year.
